(In case you haven’t figured it out yet – I’m talking about convertible automobiles)
#1 – Saturn Sky Red Line Carbon Flash Special Edition Turbo Roadster
I saw a Saturn Sky RLCF Se Turbo 5-speed up close and personal when I encountered one parked on the street in my neighborhood this week – right in front of someone’s house where a lexus convertible roadster was parked. The Saturn Sky put that lexus to shame in every way imaginable. With a 260hp turbo I4 engine and a 5-speed manual transmission coupled with super-nice styling and 27mpg highway, this car earns top dog honors in my rankings!
#2 – Ford (Mustang) Shelby GT500 (Cobra)
What can I say – Carrol Shelby is a legend in American performance machines. And this is a perfect example as to why. 500 horsepower mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, wrapped in a beautifully aggressive pony car body. Heck, you can even grab a few friends for a cruise to boot!
#3 – Pontiac Solstice T2 Roadster
The sister car to the Saturn Sky RLCF Se Turbo. Also equipped with a 260hp turbo I4 engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. Super-nice styling and power/mileage rankings near the top of the class!
#4 – Chevrolet Corvette LT4
What can you say about this legendary car that hasn’t already been said millions of times?! (like DAYUMMMM!)
This year’s model sports a 430 horsepower engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
Wrapped in the famous carbon-fiber/fiberglass lightweight body, this drivetrain has mind-numbing acceleration and handling.
You get all that PLUS 26mpg on the highway and 21+mpg average combined driving!
#5 – Chrysler Sebring Limited Retractable Hard-Top
With a 235hp engine mated to a 6-speed auto overdrive along with plenty of luxury creature comforts, this car is eager to please. It is also very affordable compared to its competition. Additionally, it provides seating for a few friends and 26mpg highway (22mpg mixed avg) on cruise night!
God bless America and her awesome automotive manufacturing!
